We made regulatory amendments to support a smooth transition from the federal OBPS to Ontario’s EPS program which applies new obligations and greenhouse gas performance standards for Ontario industry beginning on January 1, 2022. The amendments will complement the changes proposed in 019-2813.

We have made a decision to proceed with developing the Ontario voluntary carbon offsets program. Voluntary carbon offset credits are an additional mechanism to encourage greenhouse gas reductions (GHG) in Ontario beyond the coverage of the cap and trade program.

We have issued a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) to 2823976 Ontario Limited, for the establishment of sewage treatment works and surface disposal servicing bunkhouses and greenhouse washroom facilities as part of a proposed Double Diamond Farms greenhouse, located at 520 County Road 14 south side in Leamington.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to St. David's Hydroponics Ltd. for existing greenhouse stormwater management works located at 4860 Martin Road, in the Town of Lincoln.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to 2674272 Ontario Inc. for the establishment of domestic sewage treatment and subsurface disposal works, as well as greenhouse stormwater management facilities, to service a greenhouse complex comprised of the packaging , processing, and buildings.

An Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to Cornies Farms Limited for an existing greenhouse stormwater management facility located at 1545 Kratz Road, Municipality of Kingsville, County of Essex, Ontario.

We approved an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (Sewage) No. 5920-AGDVVF for the existing greenhouse stormwater management facility servicing Allegro Acres Inc.

An Environmental Compliance Approval has been issued to Geosyntec Consultants International, Inc., located in Toronto, Ontario. The facility undertakes soil remediation.

We have approved a new Environmental Compliance Approval No. 6161-BGCKTM for Fresh Venture Farms Inc. for stormwater management facilities, serving Fresh Venture Farms, located in the Municipality of Lambton Shores, County of Lambton, Ontario.

We have finalized a protocol that sets out rules for creating greenhouse gas offset credits from the collection and destruction of ozone depleting substances.

We have completed our public consultation on the plain language regulatory proposal relating to excess soil management.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to Sunrise Farms Limited for existing greenhouse stormwater management works located at 2190 Seacliff Drive, in the Town of Kingsville, County of Essex, Ontario.

We approved the amendment of Environmental Compliance Approval No. 9912-AVW5KB for an existing stormwater management pond servicing a greenhouse located at the Ontario Plants Propagation Limited greenhouse facility.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to Rol-land Farms Limited for an existing greenhouse stormwater sytstem, located at 9102 Bisnett Line, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval is granted to Mastr Grow Farms Inc. for existing stormwater management facility serving partial of the existing site located at 1627 County Road 31, Town of Kingsville, County of Essex.

Bill 46, Less Red Tape, Stronger Ontario Act, 2023, received royal assent on March 22, 2023.  The act amends the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act to remove the prohibition on carbon storage.  This change represents a first step towards enabling geologic carbon storage in the province of Ontario.
