The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) sought feedback on ideas to address the unique housing needs for rural and northern Ontario municipalities. MMAH incorporated this feedback into the development of a province-wide land use planning document. MMAH has issued the Provincial Planning Statement, taking effect on October 20, 2024.
The Planning Act was amended to give the Minister regulation-making authority to address planning timelines in an emergency. This authority was used to file a regulation on April 15/20 to address the impact of certain orders under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act on planning timelines and effectively suspend some of these timelines
The Smiths Falls Golf and Country Club, Limited requested to withdraw their application for a permit to take water (PTTW) for golf course irrigation and water supply purposes. The application is considered withdrawn and no permit was issued.
The government is seeking feedback on potential legislative changes, policy and other matters to make it easier and faster to build all types of homes for Ontarians as part of the More Homes for Everyone Plan.

Donegan’s Haulage Limited has applied for a Class A licence to extract aggregate from above the water table in a pit that is 39.6 hectares in size. This application is for the establishment of a new pit. The annual tonnage condition applied for is 400,000 tonnes per calendar year.
