An amended existing Environmental Compliance Approval has been issued to the applicant for establishment and continued operation of sewage works located at 2330 Haldimand Road 3, Haldimand County, Ontario.

The Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry made changes to the regulation under the Aggregate Resources Act to manage the beneficial reuse of excess soil to facilitate rehabilitation at pits and quarries.

The ministry issued an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval A210237 for the GFL Environmental Inc. waste disposal site (transfer station) in Mississauga, Ontario. The amendment will allow the company to extend the existing hours of operation for receiving and shipping of waste to include Saturdays.

On February 28, 2024, Ontario filed the regulatory amendments to O. Reg. 160/99 and O. Reg. 610/98 under the Electricity Act, 1998 to streamline the regulatory framework related to the appointments of directors to the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) board and to provide clarity on conflicts of interest rules.

We have amended the renewable fuel regulations to increase blending requirements, improve the environmental performance of fuels, and recognize emerging low carbon fuel technologies.

We decided to proceed with the proposed changes to reduce the minimum distance requirement for placement of bait from rights of way for public vehicular traffic and marked and maintained recreational trails for black bear hunting from 200 metres to 30 metres.

We have issued an amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) No. 0854-524QUQ to expand the operation of the site to include receiving, storing and transferring excess soils as defined in O.Reg. 406/19, and to change the hours of operation for the site.

We have expanded the boundaries of 23 protected areas (17 provincial parks and 6 conservation reserves) and corrected the name of Chapleau Nemegosenda River Provincial Park. These changes contribute to the long-term sustainability of Ontario’s natural heritage and provide increased opportunities for recreational activities.
