The Minister has identified 29 provincially significant employment zones that receive enhanced protection under A Place to Grow. Based on feedback, the Ministry has corrected any technical errors to the boundaries for zones and issued revised maps to be used in the Plan’s implementation but will still consider requests to review the zones.

Through Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act, amendments have been made to the Planning Act and the Development Charges Act, 1997 to reduce municipal development-related charges. These changes will help the government achieve its goal of building 1.5 million homes over the next ten years.
On April 8, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 337/22. The Minister of Infrastructure requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
We have issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 6543-C2RPGE on June 1, 2021, which cancels and replaces Permit to take Water No. 7473-9N8L5R, for Mattamy (Monarch) Limited located in Ottawa, Ontario.
The new Permit to Take Water has an expiry date of June 1, 2031.
We amended Renewable Energy Approval No. 7123-9W9NH2 for Amherst Island Wind Project to permanently install and operate the Borealis ice protection system on wind turbine S37.
This proposal was to amend the Permit To Take Water No. 4101-AL4K8S for remedial operations for A.O. Smith Enterprises Ltd. to add a new source for water taking in Fergus, Ontario. Permit number 5253-BRRU9N was issued on August 27, 2020 and is valid until July 31, 2026.
We updated the Air Contaminants Benchmarks (ACB) List to reflect the recent phase out of certain air standards set out in O. Reg. 419/05. We also reviewed, and updated where applicable, the screening levels for approximately 3,000 of the contaminants on the list.

The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 212 which introduces the new Building Highways Faster Act, 2024, an initiative under the Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. This new Act will accelerate highway construction for designated priority projects to support the movement of goods and people across Ontario.
We are modernizing the environmental assessment program by working with proponents of Class Environmental Assessments (Class EA) to propose changes that would ensure strong environmental oversight, while aligning assessment requirements with environmental impact, reducing duplication and increasing efficiency of the Class EA process.
This decision is to refuse the new Permit to Take Water for Alamos Gold Inc. for industrial purposes. Water was requested to be taken from one watercourse and 12 lakes for a surface exploration multi drill program at the Young-Davidson Mine Site, located in the Township of Matachewan.
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) has revoked O. Reg. 115/20 so that the requirements under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 (EBR) to post proposals for acts, policies, regulations and instruments on the Environmental Registry (ERO) and to consider the Statements of Environmental Values (SEV) are restored.
