A new vehicle emission regulation under the Environmental Protection Act and amendments to the Vehicle Permits Regulation under the Highway Traffic Act will be in effect January 1, 2020, which will clarify and strengthen on-road vehicle emissions requirements and set out rules around the testing of emissions from heavy diesel commercial vehicle.

Feedback from phase 1 consultation on growing the Greenbelt including a Paris Galt Moraine study area and ideas for adding Urban River Valleys was considered. On March 24, 2022, Phase 2 consultation was launched on proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan and Greenbelt Area boundary regulation to add 13 new and expanded Urban River Valleys.

We are moving forward with regulatory changes that will require proponents to self-register more types of waste management systems online. We have amended four producer responsibility regulations made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. These changes increase flexibility, reduce burden and simplify requirements for producers.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit to The City of Richmond Hill to improve the Beaver Creek Stormwater Management Facility. This activity may adversely impact all four species at risk bats. The permit includes actions to benefit the species and minimize adverse effects.

This decision is for a renewal of Permit to Take Water No. 1740-BUESUC for Ellisdon Civil Ltd. for industrial purposes. Water will be taken from nine lakes and one watercourse, related to industrial activities, located in the City of Toronto, Ontario. Permit to Take Water No. 4520-C7HK8D was issued on October 15, 2021.

We have issued a benefit permit to Conmar Developments Inc. and Fenlands Vaughan Inc. to develop a commercial facility which will impact Redside Dace habitat. The permit includes actions to benefit the species, minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.
