Bill 46, Less Red Tape, Stronger Ontario Act, 2023, received royal assent on March 22, 2023.  The act amends the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act to remove the prohibition on carbon storage.  This change represents a first step towards enabling geologic carbon storage in the province of Ontario.

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has amended the Emissions Performance Standards (EPS) and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting programs to clarify requirements, improve efficiency and address fundamental changes in some Ontario industries.

An amendment to the ECA number 5984-CJH2P9 was approved for the establishment of stormwater management works serving the proposed Phase 4 and future Phase 5 Domric International Ltd. expansion, for the collection, transmission, treatment and disposal of stormwater run-off from the greenhouse site located at 3069 Graham Side Road in Kingsville

We have made a decision on an application for four proposed models to calculate the lifecycle GHG intensity of new bio-based content under the Cleaner Transportation Fuels Regulation. This posting serves as approval under s.7(1)(b) of the regulation. We are also providing notice of updates to the Technical Guideline pursuant to s. 177(6).

We made amendments to make it easier for energy-intensive facilities to substitute coal and petroleum coke with alternative low-carbon fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The use of low-carbon fuels will enable these industries to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels and decrease their carbon footprint.

The Environmental Compliance Approval was amended for the establishment, usage and operation of upgraded and expanded non-municipal sewage works.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) is granted to Flower Group Operating Inc. for sewage works serving greenhouse expansion development for accommodating a total of 124 on-site workers, up to 86 off-site employees, as well as 12.5 cubic metres of process wastewater from greenhouse operation.

Ontario will proceed with updates to the Technical Guideline for the Cleaner Transportation Fuels regulation. It will include a modified pathway that could be used to calculate the lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions intensity of bio-based content. The Technical Guideline will be updated for this pathway.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent was granted on February 1, 2016 in respect of Application 54-C-159406 for creation of one new agricultural lot on lands described as the west ½ of the south ½ of lot 5, concession 3, Cane unincorporated township, District of Timiskaming. This decision has passed the appeal date.

An approval was granted to Pure Flavor Farms GP Inc., as general partner and on behalf of Pure Flavor Farms LP, for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) number 2763-CD33SX for the modifications to existing stormwater management works.

We're providing incentives to eligible businesses that want to buy low-carbon commercial vehicles and technologies to reduce emissions. Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the movement of goods and non-passenger related services by encouraging a shift towards low-carbon fuels and emission reducing technologies.

An amended Environmental Compliance Approval was granted to Golden Acre Farms Inc. for the addition of stormwater management works, as part of Phase 3 (Block 2) greenhouse development, located at 1999 Graham Side Road in the Town of Kingsville.

An amendment Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) was granted to Boem Berry Farms Inc. to amend the existing ECA No. 5692-CHR4PN for proposed Phase 4 greenhouse expansion development, located at 684 County Road 2 East, in the Town of Kingsville, County of Essex, Ontario.

An Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) was issued for Enviro-Tex Products Inc., a facility manufacturing mineral wool greenhouse growing media, located in Paris, Ontario.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval was granted to Bull Market Farms Inc. for stormwater management works serving existing greenhouse site, located at 2633 Albuna Townline in the Town of Kingsville, Ontario.

We have amended the Emissions Performance Standards (EPS) and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting programs to provide voluntary participants with more flexibility to exit the EPS program.

Environmental Compliance Approval No. 6185-CTAHHQ was issued to D.T. Enterprise Farms Ltd. for new stormwater management works serving the expansion of the greenhouse development site.
