Amendments to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act enable the ministry to act directly to reduce risks from hazardous wells when an operator is non-compliant and deceased, insolvent, or bankrupt. These changes were part of the Resource Management and Safety Act, 2025 and took effect on December 3, 2025.
The ministry is considering issuing three Certificates of Property Use for the intended mixed use of 851 King St. East, 432 Charles St. East and 5 Stirling Ave. South in the City of Kitchener.

The government has made changes that restore the 15 areas of land that were redesignated or removed from the Greenbelt in December 2022. The Greenbelt Statute Law Amendment Act, 2023 also ensures that any future changes to the Greenbelt boundary can only be made through legislation.
The ministry has accepted the risk assessment prepared for the owner, City of Toronto, as part of the development plans for property at 125 Queen Quay East (Part 4, Block 10), Toronto. The director is considering issuing a Certificate of Property Use ("CPU") in relation to the property.

As part of our Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan commitment, Ontario increased the renewable content in gasoline to 15 per cent by 2030. The new Technical Guideline: Cleaner Transportation Fuels will require fuel suppliers to consistently use data and other methods for calculating greenhouse gas performance of renewable content in fuel they sell.

We are making changes to address duplication and overlap with the federal government’s requirements for toxic substances to reduce burden for facilities. Regulatory changes now enable the Smart Metering Entity (SME) to collect, process and manage bi-directional smart metering data, and provides the SME with exclusive authority as of January 1, 2025. These changes support a centralized billing solution for distributors to bill net-metered customers according to their choice of pricing plan.
