Amendments to the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act enable the ministry to act directly to reduce risks from hazardous wells when an operator is non-compliant and deceased, insolvent, or bankrupt. These changes were part of the Resource Management and Safety Act, 2025 and took effect on December 3, 2025.

The government has made changes that restore the 15 areas of land that were redesignated or removed from the Greenbelt in December 2022. The Greenbelt Statute Law Amendment Act, 2023 also ensures that any future changes to the Greenbelt boundary can only be made through legislation.

The Green Energy Repeal Act repealed the Green Energy Act and amended other Acts to re-introduce conservation and energy efficiency initiatives, restore municipal authority over siting renewable energy projects, and create the authority to prohibit issuance of Renewable Energy Approvals, including where demand for electricity is not demonstrated.

As part of our Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan commitment, Ontario increased the renewable content in gasoline to 15 per cent by 2030. The new Technical Guideline: Cleaner Transportation Fuels will require fuel suppliers to consistently use data and other methods for calculating greenhouse gas performance of renewable content in fuel they sell.

A Certificate of Property Use was issued to Canada Post Corporation for the intended residential and commercial use of the property located at 70 King Street North, Waterloo Ontario.

We are making changes to address duplication and overlap with the federal government’s requirements for toxic substances to reduce burden for facilities. Facilities with existing toxics reduction plans will no longer be required to review those plans. In addition, all facilities in Ontario will no longer have new planning or reporting required.

Approval has been granted for the establishment of Industrial Sewage Works for the collection, treatment and disposal of stormwater and drainage water from the existing Valerie Falls Hydroelectric Generating Station (GS).

Brantam Excavating Inc. was issued a licence to extract aggregate from a pit in the Municipality of Thames Centre. 

Miller Paving Limited has withdrawn this request and will not be moving forward with any changes to their site plan at this time and this proposal is considered closed.

We approved the updated Fire Management Planning Guideline for Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves.

A licence to operate a pit was issued to Aaroc Aggregates Ltd. in the County of Middlesex.

A Certificate of Property Use was issued to 321 COURTLAND AVENUE DEVELOPMENTS INC. for the property located at 321, 323 and 325 Courtland Avenue East in the City of Kitchener, Regional Municipality of Waterloo.

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing consulted from October 23 to November 22, 2025, on municipal use of Enhanced Development Standards at the lot level. The Ministry received 134 submissions and reviewed this input to help inform future policy direction.

Regulatory changes now enable the Smart Metering Entity (SME) to collect, process and manage bi-directional smart metering data, and provides the SME with exclusive authority as of January 1, 2025. These changes support a centralized billing solution for distributors to bill net-metered customers according to their choice of pricing plan.
