Proposed regulatory amendments related to the treatment of corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) were approved and will allow Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI) participants to reduce their GA charges based on the electricity purchased under the eligible PPA.

Following review of stakeholder submissions and other developments following the Ministry’s Green Button regulatory proposal in 2017-18, the Ministry decided not to proceed with the regulation as proposed. The Ministry is now considering options to make energy data available to consumers.

We decided to implement regulations to prescribe conditions to fast-track approval of small pipeline projects estimated to cost between $2 and $10 million, where the OEB is satisfied that the Crown has discharged its Duty to Consult (DTC), where triggered.  

An amendment Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) was granted to 2229062 Ontario Inc., operating as Nature Fresh Farms to amend ECA No. 5024-9BMJD4 for the expansion of stormwater management works serving phases 1, 2, 3, and 4 greenhouse development.

We have issued a new Permit to Take Water No. 4064-CEYLKF on June 1, 2022 for Eagles Rest Estates Inc. for water supply purposes. Water will be taken from three wells to supply potable water to the property located at 1552 Bass Lake Side Road within the Township of Oro-Medonte, Ontario. The new permit has an expiry date of June 1, 2027.

We decided to proceed with domestic bio-based content requirements for both diesel fuel and gasoline placed in the Ontario market under the Cleaner Transportation Fuels (CTF) regulation. At least 75% of the renewable content required in diesel fuel and 64% of the renewable content required in gasoline must be made in Canada, effective immediately.

This ministry has approved site-specific standards for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and sulphuric acid for Ontario Power Generation’s Lennox Generating Station in Napanee, Ontario for a 10-year period.

Application 59-C-220755 for a road access easement was approved on September 27, 2022 subject to conditions. The last date to appeal this decision is October 17, 2022.

Application 60-C-235558 was approved on October 20, 2023 subject to conditions.  The last date to appeal the decision under the Planning Act is November 9, 2023.

Application 59-C-243460 was approved on October 31, 2025, subject to conditions.  The last date to appeal the decision under the Planning Act is November 20, 2025.

Pursuant to Section 53 of the Planning Act, provisional consent for a lot severance for agricultural purposes was granted on June 19, 2024, subject to conditions. 

On October 21, 2024, Sarnia Concrete Products Limited made a request to the ministry to withdraw the application for an Environmental Compliance Approval.

No approval has been issued.
