We have temporarily paused protections for Black Ash under the Endangered Species Act, for two years from the time when it is added to the Species at Risk in Ontario List, to allow time to develop an approach to support Black Ash protection and recovery.
On January 26, 2022, we amended the Species at Risk in Ontario List to reflect new species at risk classifications set out in the 2019-2020 Annual Report of the Committee on the Status of Species at Risk in Ontario. This is required by the Endangered Species Act, 2007.
