We are amending the Conservation Authorities Act to improve transparency and consistency in conservation authority operations, strengthen municipal and provincial oversight and streamline conservation authority roles in permitting and land use planning.
We are seeking feedback on a proposal for a regulation(s) under the Planning Act that would identify the only information and material that planning authorities could require as part of a complete application, to provide more certainty and predictability for applicants and support faster planning approvals.

We are proposing changes to forest-related rules and permitting processes to make them more efficient, reduce unnecessary steps and support economic growth — while continuing to manage Ontario’s forest responsibly and sustainably.
We have expanded the boundaries of 23 protected areas (17 provincial parks and 6 conservation reserves) and corrected the name of Chapleau Nemegosenda River Provincial Park. These changes contribute to the long-term sustainability of Ontario’s natural heritage and provide increased opportunities for recreational activities.
We are proposing to extend the expiry date for Environmental Assessment Act approvals by 10 years for certain projects once the relevant amendments to the Act come into effect. This extension will allow the projects to proceed (subject to any other permits and approvals required) instead of requiring a new environmental assessment to be completed.
