We have created a new regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act to better protect sources of drinking water.

We finalized species-specific policies (government response statements) outlining the actions we intend to lead and support to protect and recover five species at risk in Ontario: Blue Ash, Gypsy Cuckoo Bumble Bee, Kentucky Coffee-tree, Massasauga (Carolinian population) and Massasauga (Great Lakes – St. Lawrence population).

The Director of Exploration has made a decision on the exploration permit application PR-20-000218 to Imerys Talc Canada Incorporated for early exploration activities located approximately 65 kilometres south west of Timmins, Ontario, in Penhorwood Township, District of Sudbury, North East Region.

The decision is to: Issue the permit

We are moving forward with regulatory changes to make it easier for proponents to apply for a permit to take water when a previous permit has been cancelled, revoked, or expired within the past year in limited circumstances. These changes will give applicants more flexibility while maintaining oversight.
