Ontario is a big place with incredible wildlife diversity. The way we protect wildlife habitat often varies by region. We are developing a technical manual about the identification, description and prioritization of significant wildlife habitat in the northeast region of the province.
We have finalized the policy objectives to help ensure the long-term environmental sustainability of commercial-scale cage aquaculture operations (culture of fish in net cages floating in open waters) in the province.
Objectives and strategies have been established to help maintain the fisheries within Fisheries Management Zone 12 of the Ottawa River. The Fisheries Management Plan will help promote ecological sustainability and evaluate the effectiveness of how it's managed.
