The Minister of Energy has extended the completion deadline for projects contracted under the legacy Conservation First Framework by eight months, with a possibility of an additional four-month extension based on qualifying criteria, to offset delays caused by COVID-19. We are providing this update to ensure transparency regarding sector activity.
On September 9, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 482/22 to permit the development of the proposed Berkeley Centre.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) sought feedback on ideas to address the unique housing needs for rural and northern Ontario municipalities. MMAH incorporated this feedback into the development of a province-wide land use planning document. MMAH has issued the Provincial Planning Statement, taking effect on October 20, 2024.

A new regulation has been made under the Environmental Assessment Act (EAA) that sets out requirements Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One) will need to undertake to proceed with the Northeast Power Line Project (Project) and for the EAA not to apply to the Project. Hydro One is collaborating with a consortium of First Nations partners.

On June 1, 2020, the government implemented a flat COVID-19 Recovery Rate of 12.8 ¢/kWh for all Regulated Price Plan (RPP) Time-of-Use (TOU) electricity customers. The government intends that RPP TOU customers will be charged this flat rate for all periods of the day, seven days a week, until October 31, 2020.
The Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction (SBRTR) has introduced the Bill 13, the Supporting People and Businesses Act, 2021 which is designed to reduce burden on individuals and businesses. In September 2019, we consulted on a draft proposal entitled ‘Ontario’s Sustainable Bait Management Strategy’. The draft proposed a new approach to bait management in Ontario by addressing the movement of bait across the province. We have decided to move forward with implementation of the policy, with some modifications.
We are publishing a new technical standard for the asphalt mix industry. This will address air emissions and help protect communities who live close to these industrial sources.
