Regulatory and policy changes under the Conservation Authorities Act were finalized to improve conservation authority governance, oversight, transparency, and accountability. They provide the flexibility needed to effectively develop budgets to deliver programs and services and were developed with the Conservation Authorities Working Group.

An amendment to Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 6656-8RVMES with Limited Operational Flexibility was issued to Evolution Mining Gold Operations Ltd., a gold mining and processing facility located in the Municipality of Red Lake, District of Kenora, Ontario.

The application that this proposal was based on was closed and the ministry amended the ECA under # 0938-CSZKXP, dated 25 July 2023.

The instrument proposed in this notice was not issued.

The 2018 Closure Plan Amendment for the Musselwhite Mine was filed by the Director of Mine Rehabilitation with changes addressed in the Closure Plan Amendment Update dated November 9, 2019 to address government technical reviews.

A pre-conversion period was set that included a cessation of staking mining claims, the suspension of a number of transactions relating to mining claims and removed the requirement for claim holders to perform assessment work for a set time period.

The ministry is moving forward with amending regulations made under the Environmental Protection Act and the Ontario Water Resources Act to streamline permissions for certain low risk short-term water taking activities. These amendments align approval requirements with the activity’s level of risk, while maintaining environmental oversight.

Amendments were made to O. Reg. 267/03 under the Nutrient Management Act, 2002 to remove the five-year expiry of the Agricultural Operation Planning certificate. Housekeeping amendments to the Regulation and Protocol were also made to add clarity. No changes were made to the proposal as a result of consultation.

Bill 222, the Ontario Rebuilding and Recovery Act, made a series of legislative amendments to accelerate the delivery of major provincial public infrastructure projects, such as transit and highways. Measures in this proposal would strengthen communities, create jobs and enhance critical services in the province.
