I strongly disagree with the government's plan to repeal the current Cap and Trade program by enacting Bill 4 without letting the public know what the government proposes to replace it.

I strongly support the federal government's taxing those who contribute the most to climate change (carbon tax). Those who pollute the least should not have to support those who pollute the most because they contribute the most to global suffering and death.

It scares me that people think Mr. Ford and other politicians are more credible than the hundreds of scientists who say climate change is here and we must change our way of life. Bill 4 ignores the reality that every day, extreme weather rages around us and proves the direness of our situation.

Without Cap and Trade or Carbon Tax, or other strong incentive to reduce our carbon emissions, there will be no money in the coffers to pay for increased costs associated with responding to catastrophes caused by climate change such as increased firefighting personnel and equipment, emergency shelters for people who have to evacuate their homes, even overtime pay for hydro workers, first responders, etc.

I understand the purpose of monies collected under Cap and Trade were to be invested in new technologies and encouraging people to switch to them, but I don't think the world, and certainly not Mr. Ford, has the will or knows the way to meet any climate targets.

I see these policy changes as having one purpose - so the rich will get richer and be the only ones able to save their skins.
