Live bait is a natural renewable resource. By further restricting the commercial bait dealers you risk putting them out of business entirely, thus jeopardizing the 23 million dollar industry which supports the multi-million dollar fishing and tourism industries. In Zone 11, specifically on Lake Nipissing small and medium businesses focused on tourism and the fishery in particular already face so many challenges and roadblocks to success.
What evidence is there of invasive species threatening the fishery in Zone 11, the actual impact of the spiny water flea on the fishery requires further study.
Putting small business out of business is bad for the fishery, the local and provincial economy.
