I strongly believe the Endangered Species Act (ESA) should remain in place. At a time where biodiversity across the globe is at an all time low, the ESA acts as a safe guard against this loss here at home in Ontario. Removing the ESA is going backwards in environmental protection, which unfortunately seems to be the pattern with our current Conservative government.
This removal of the ESA also reminds me of the recent removal of environmental protections currently occurring in the United States. This is something we should not be following, and I find the resemblance extremely alarming.
I hope the Ford government will rethink this decision- the proposed 413 Hwy is not worth the implications this removal will have here in Ontario.
