This is a despicable plan. I understand that because of the trade war with the USA, Canada and Ontario are trying to boost their own economy through development BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. We cannot eat money. We need clean air, clean water, healthy soils and biodiversity in order to survive. Think about all the animals and plants you will kill through this! They deserve a right to a good life just as much as any Ontarian. This is ridiculous. We need more environmental protection not less! You cannot go through with this I beg you. The ecosystem services and recreation services these protected areas provide are critical. I understand people need places to live, but so do these animals! and you are trying to take away the last of the homes of so many creatures to build parking lots and fucking malls. Doug Ford you should be ashamed of yourself and so should everyone that supports this plan. It is evil. How are we to trust anything our government says or puts in place if they can just roll back on it a few years later! There is a reason these EPAs were set up in the first place!!! Please think long term sustainability of our landscapes not just short term economic impact. Think about your children and grandchildren who might not get to experience the incredible nature Ontario had to offer. And you can’t say ‘well there’s a lot up north’ - there are so many things wrong with that statement! For one the animals and plants that live in this area have been here far longer than any humans and have adapted to specialize in these habitats. You can’t just expect them to seamlessly move up there, in an area they don’t know where to find shelter, water, food or mates. And two, nature needs to be accessible to people! There is so much scientific literature supporting that our wellbeing is inextricably intertwined with our ability to seek out and connect with nature. Don’t take that away from people who are already struggling. SHAME ON YOU DOUG FORD!!!!!!!!!!!!
