The new proposal for the Endangered Species Act does not prioritize species at risk of being endangered or that are currently endangered. The act should continue to prioritize species protection and conservation over economic considerations in Ontario. Only evidence and scientist based recommendations should be made when adding/removing species from the list - the government should not be responsible for this as many species require extensive biodiversity and conservation knowledge, which COSSARO currently provides.
