We can't cut corners to bypass important procedures that protect the species at risk of Ontario. This province provides natural landscapes that create the perfect environment for species not found elsewhere in Canada and why would we want to limit the protections put in place to ensure we are maintaining the environments for the species as well as protecting these plants and animals.
A species that is very close to my heart is the endangered piping plover, and I worry how these changes will impact the protection to their habitats. Those birds are finally making a comeback in the great lakes region, it would be devastating to see legislation strip away the protections that are helping with their recovery.
