I oppose these changes. Species need to be conserved for future generations. They have a right to experience the natural world on this planet. Think about how there are no more American Chestnuts to eat like the Christmas song, and there are no more Elm trees providing shade to our communities. We are missing out on these experiences because of lack of environmental care taken by older generations.
Besides that, the ecosystem has a delicate balance. Destroying one species can have an impact on other species. One day we're going to wipe out a species that we depend on for our survival, such as pollinators that are required to pollinate fruit trees.
Our society must find balance between financial interests and living in harmony with all the other life on this planet. We are all trapped here together.
Unfettered greed only leads to misery for the majority while propping up the few. It is not the value system of a civilized society. Adopting these proposed changes takes us further down the path of a collapsing society built only for the benefit of the few.
