Should this pass, it would give the government of Ontario too much power regarding the safety and wellbeing of all species, but especially threatened or endangered ones. The government having the power to remove designated animals off of COSSARO's list of threatened and endangered animals is a power that is easily abused. It could also lead to a conflict of interest of the government both providing building licenses and designating endangered species. A corrupt government could build on the land of endangered animals and selectively remove those animals from the list to further their plans. The process is lengthy and thorough because that's what protects the animals. Ontario is one of the most biodiverse places in Canada. We should aspire to keep it that way. Link provided is that of all the species currently at risk, threatened or endangered. All of those animals would be at an even further risk. Their lives are not worth quicker build times.
