Conservation of endangered and at risk species is extremely important. Once destroyed, we cannot get them back. Biodiversity and the maintenance of balanced ecosystems are infinitely more important than for-profit resource extraction. Without balanced ecosystems, our own species cannot survive. This act would see to it that our unique biodiversity is destroyed in the name of profit. While this may be in the interest of this government and the narrow-minded profiteers in the extractive industries, the public interest and preservation of our ecosystems must necessarily outweigh the profit motive. The government must stop this legislation, and prioritize our biodiversity and ecosystems over private profit. Destroying protected areas in our province, which belong to all of us, for the benefit of a small few is fundamentally un-Canadian and a shameful act.
