There are several very concerning things in the proposed legislation that make it seem like a government power grab rather than a serious attempt to improve the legislation. For example, the increased ability for the government to overrule the decisions of COSSARO. What on earth is the point of appointing a committee of qualified experts to make science-based recommendations, if the government can then ignore those recommendations and allow short-term political whims to override sound strategic planning?
