The proposed changes are biologically ludicrous and forget that habitats and species are intrinsically connected. You cannot narrow protections to only the space were animals sleep and call it protection.
Ontario is yet again putting simplistic solutions forward that pits the economy against nature. It doesn't have to be that way.
You cannot protect a species if you eliminate the protection of the habitat the animal relies on for food and the species the animals use for food and shelter.
Humans rely on a healthy ecosystem to stay healthy and prosper. Ontario woyld pave over and dig up the very land we grow our food on and which cleans our water.
Indigenous prior and informed consent is a legal obligation Ontario must respect for any developments, based on the Canadian treaties and ratification of UNDRIP.
Speed up and streamline approvals by hiring more environmental experts within the civil service needed for review.
Prior local and indigenous consultations for individual projects can be done in an ongoing basis.
Tearing up endangered species protections will make us poorer as a province both environmentally and economically. Ontario tourism is reliant to a large part on our natural beauty.
Slow this down. Otherwise you are mimicking the Trump administration's philosophy of cutting simply to cut, with no consideration for downstream effects.
