The current act causes delays in building for a very good reason: thorough analysis of any potential. Gutting and getting rid of these time delays will allow short-term gratification of more buildings, but no one wants to live in a wasteland. I guarantee even people who don't care about wildlife or nature benefit almost directly from it without knowing. The act as it is right now protects the habitat of endangered species for a good reason. It is almost laughably villainess to want to alter it because getting building permits is taking too long. It takes that long for a reason! Please, I implore the decision makers to think critically on this. The risk assessment process is one that we cannot cut corners on lest we want to lose more of our native species in a time where so many are already at risk of extirpation. You can't go on mental health walks in a concrete jungle. The noise and particle pollution from building within critical habitat impacts not just where the building took place, but in much of the surrounding area. It alters the soil, chemical leaching, water quality, connectivity, and more. People need fresh air, greenery, and our natural environment. The native species of Ontario are part of what makes Ontario so charming. Any place on earth can build buildings, but no other place in this universe has the exact same ecosystems and species compositions as Ontario. Why is your infrastructure more important than the lives of these organisms? These organisms are part of a wider food web than you can envision. The downstream effects of cutting endangered species protection will be felt by us immensely. Thank you for your time.
