Under the proposed new SCA, activities that are harmful to species cannot proceed unless the person carrying out the activity has registered the activity, or in limited situations, obtained a permit.
- What happens once there is registration and these activities that are harmful to species are carried out and what type of monitoring occurs to ensure that these harmful activities do not take place?
- How do you intend to ensure "if harm to species occurs, the ministry has to tools to enforce the law and hold proponents to account"? There is no plan described in this proposal.
I vehemently oppose changes unless there is a demonstration that risk mitigation in part through drafting of the legislation with more enforcement mechanisms take place.
