I’m almost retired here, and after years of hard work, I chose to settle in this community for its peaceful, rural way of life. The idea that a landfill could bring in 6,000 tonnes of waste every day, just down the road, threatens everything I’ve worked for. It’s not just about the roads being damaged or the trucks making everything noisier—it’s about the environmental impact that could affect my health, the air I breathe, and the water I drink. As someone who’s spent years building a life here, I’m deeply concerned about how this could harm the land that makes our region so special. If the environment is damaged, it affects everyone—including future generations, who may find it harder to make a living or enjoy the same way of life. As I approach retirement, the last thing I want is to see this community’s health, economy, and quality of life take a hit. A full environmental assessment is necessary to ensure we protect the future for everyone who calls this place home.
