As a First Nations member who has called this land home, I know how deeply our people are connected to the land and waterways. This is what sustains us. We rely on the water for much more than just drinking...it is part of our culture! part of our traditions! and our way of life!!!!!!
The proposal to bring in tonnes of waste every day threatens not just our roads and environment, but our very relationship with the land and the water!!!!! The potential for contamination. This could mean through runoff, air pollution, or damage to the natural ecosystem....could affect our waterway, the plants and animals we depend on, and the future of our children and grandchildren. This land and water are sacred to us, and they have supported generations before me. As I near retirement, I want to ensure that this land, this water, and our way of life remain protected for those who come after. We need a full environmental assessment to fully understand the risks before moving forward with any decision that could irreparably harm our community and the environment we hold dear.
