This change worries me. It ultimately puts economic growth and development above preserving our slowly diminishing habitats and species. Being able to fast track development before obtaining permits sounds like there is lots of room for development companies to 'make mistakes' and brake rules. These mistakes can't be undone. Not a fan of this proposal which puts the interest of developers before the environment. Destroying habitats of species is not something that should be rushed, even if that means spending more. Also not sure about the government being able to remove species from the protected species list - I feel like this detail needs to be flushed out. Will there be science to back up these decisions? What makes the government have a better understanding than the COSSARO on what species should be protected.
