Bill 5 is a sneaky way of tossing the protection in place of endangered species, and I don't support it. This land needs to be protected for future generations. How much longer will we dismiss damaging fragile ecosystems and habitats to the detriment of humans for the sake of money? We need to build, but we also recognise that humanity relies on the land it is destroying without a second thought.
"Oh, but it's just a turtle!" We are only as strong as our weakest link: "Turtles and their eggs are important prey to a wide variety of predators. These reptiles graze, they dig burrows, they disperse seeds, they create and modify habitats, and they affect food webs and mineral cycling."
I vehemently do not support this bill.
