I’m concerned with the way this bill seeks to undermine the work of the ESA in favour of developers and the government desire to speed ahead with development projects. We need to be doing more to protect biodiversity, not handing over the decision making ability about which species are worth protecting to a government that has repeatedly proven they don’t care about the natural world, specifically the therme spa development and the greenbelt scandal. It’s clear that the only thing this government cares about is lining their own pockets and those of their developer friends, and NOT about what is best for Ontario or Ontarians.
