I am deeply concerned about the proposed changes under Bill 162 and urge the Government of Ontario to reconsider weakening environmental protections. At a time when biodiversity loss and climate change are accelerating, we should be strengthening,
(not reducing) regulations that protect our wetlands, forests, and endangered species.
Streamlining approvals must not come at the cost of the natural heritage that supports our communities, health, and economy. Ontario’s ecosystems are already under significant pressure, and any move to reduce oversight risks irreversible damage.
I ask that the government uphold its responsibility to protect the environment for current and future generations. Please prioritize sustainable planning and environmental stewardship over short-term convenience.
