I strongly oppose Bill 5. Repealing the endangered species act and replacing it with weaker protections threatens Ontario’s biodiversity, especially when economic interests are prioritized over ecological survival. The move to a registration-first system eliminates critical oversight and silences public and expert input. This bill undermines decades of conservation progress and is not in the best interest of Ontarians or the environment. I urge the government to withdraw or substantially revise Bill 5 to uphold strong, science-based environmental protections.
