As a long-time resident of Ontario, I have witnessed the benefits our natural spaces and species provide to our society and economy.
Apart from the intrinsic value, these habitats and individuals are an absolute boon to humans.
Stripping away their existing protections will do us an absolute disservice.
To supporters, while this change may seem like an economic benefit, countless pieces of research have demonstrated that protecting nature provides more and longer-term benefits for people. This is the opposite of what happens when protections are removed and natural spaces are developed.
