This is not a change for the better. These alterations would strip away all the hard-won protections for at-risk species and put short-term industry interests ahead of the well-being and survival of wildlife already on the brink of endangerment. The many aspects of our land are not just resources — they are home. And to stand by while laws meant to protect that home are rewritten to serve profit, would be a disservice and a disrespect to it. This would just be the first step of a damning deterioration of the beautiful biodiversity and natural spaces Canada has to offer, and if it is taken, how much further will these corporations intend to walk? How many more changes will they make? When will enough be enough?
