As a working Canadian whom rents in Ontario, and does not yet have the capital to own my first home. I understand the need to provide new housing developments in Ontario. I also understand the shifts needed to support the Canadian economy in light of the new threats presented to us by our neighbour's.

However, to dismantle the protections that have been in place to protect the species and habitats that we share this world with leaves me very concerned.

I frankly don't feel like I can trust large corporate businesses that would be moving in to these habitats to have my best interests in mind. Some of these protections not only protect the species within those environment, but they protect the communities that share that environment with those species too.

Some of the protections suggested to be removed would be for aquatic species as well. We share the same water that these animals, and fish use. Would my family and I eventually have to worry about the water we drink. Would these communities just be a casualty, just like the protected environments that we would be demolishing for resources.

These rules and regulations are placed to make sure that big business thinks before it acts. That it considers the long term effects their proposed changes have on the environment, the species being protected, AND the communities that share those environments with those species.

I believe that by streamlining the ability for big business to get past normal regulations will only serve to remove one of the checks and balances that we have to keep not only these environments and animals safe. But also the communities that share the environments with these species and habitats.

A part of being Canadian is that we care not only for ourselves, but for the environment, and species we share this world with.
