Since reputable environmentalist groups and watchdogs are speaking out against this bill, I am worried this Bill takes frightening steps towards anti-democratic, anti-environmental, and anti-Indigenous powers that significantly risk public health, climate collapse, and worsened systemic oppression. Checks and balances, consultations, regulation, and limits on resource extraction serve important functions that we put in place because of they better uphold human right as well as the worst of genocidal and ecocidal harms history that history demonstrated too many times (Obed Mountain Mine spills, The Great Leap Forward, Columbian banana worker massacre and namatide poisonings, etc.) . This Bill seems to risks more long-term costs than any short-term benefits for Ontario, your voters, and the world.
