The process for environmental concerns when it comes to development is not too long…it is not long enough.
This bill is purposely misleading the general public into believing that it will hasten affordable housing for all when it is just a back door grab at the Greenbelt and other areas that developers have been blocked from. It is only to build bank accounts and fill politicians’ re-election campaigns.
It does nothing to protect wildlife and especially endangered wildlife species. Indeed it puts them at much higher risk. Governments must never have the “discretion” of deciding which species are at risk because they only consider their own political desires. Scientists are the only ones, using accepted scientific principals, who should decide which species are at risk. Too many of Ontario’s animals have fallen further into risk since 2018 and the careless use of land by the government of Ontario. This bill should never be allowed to proceed.
It will leave nothing for our future generations.
