I, an Ontarian, strongly condemn and oppose this change. I oppose this bill. There is no science behind these decisions, an absolute disregard for our conservationists, a redefining of endangered species is absurd, and to create a system that allows developers to develop with no environmental protection and responsibity oversight. What about the indigenous communities? What about their land and rights? If guidelines are so weak, we will be left with a disaster when it comes to our beautiful province. We cannot afford to lose more species, green spaces, and species that are affected by our decisions on zoning. I do not want this. I want affordable housing. I do not want government overreach. This continues to occur under the Ford government. I want a scientifically based committee to be overseeing a policy change such as this. Why are you attacking all green spaces? Who will benefit the most from this? Why is so much of the proposal about developers, AGAIN??? When will our voices be heard. How can we trust a government, such as this one, that got scammed by a spa company? Is climate change no longer real to this government? So, just register for a permit online and hopefully they'll follow some rules - that is essentially this policy proposal.
This proposal is too vague. It's creating problems regarding definitions. This proposal needs to be more clear, transparent, and the aim needs to be clearer. Who is having a hard time with the permits? Developers or regular citizens? Why must we bailout developers by surrendering the beauty that is Ontario's greenery. First greenbelt and now this. This administration is showing they do not care about the environment, once again! Please, at least let someone audit this, considering the last time. Please, let that person be an independent auditor, and allow the auditor to take actual steps. How could anyone think this is a good idea? If it turns into a development zone, can't the government just use "strong powers?"
