I oppose the proposed changes. We had a tag system that worked when we had adhesive, water resistant tags that eliminated the opportunity for hunters to re-use tags and that we're easy for an officer to check. The proposal with using phones is a disaster waiting to happen with dead phones, personal information being on phones, a requirement for hunters to show their phones to officers.
Not accompanying the animal... "if a hunter using a digital tag is no longer accompanying their harvested animal, they would be required to write down information (e.g., name and confirmation code) on material and attach it to the animal in accordance with the tagging instructions. Hunters would be responsible for carrying the necessary materials with them while hunting.". This is too vague. What if a person has poor hand writing, no pen, it rains, etc when a warden wants to see the info a hunter is supposed to leave attached?
