I want to put on record that I'm against Bill 5.
The proposed changes will move Ontario away from a science-based approach to protecting wildlife to one that gives power to developers, industry and the Premier's cabinet.
It is a dangerous deregulation path that will see the loss of many endangered species. This is the exact opposite of what is needed. Biodiversity is critical for mitigating climate change as it absorbs carbon into the biomass, ultimately storing it in the ground.
We NEED the environmental protections that are currently in place. If you want to change them, make them stronger.
It will sabotage our natural environment for decades to come. This must not be allowed to go through.
This bill is undemocratic, dangerous and a disgrace.
