I strongly oppose the changes, including to reframe the definition of habitat, remove the concept of 'harass' from species protections, remove the requirements to develop recovery strategies and management plans, allow a registration-first approach and give the government the discretion to remove protected species from the list of protected species. These changes will only further endanger threatened or endangered species at a time when climate change is putting them at risk. It's shameful that the government is using the tariff war as a guise to loosen protection and help developers bulldoze critical habitat.
