I am writing because I strongly oppose this legislation, known as Bill 5 (Proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007 and a proposal for the Species Conservation Act, 2025).
The precious environment of this province is the underpinning of all life in Ontario. The people of this province have definitely not requested to weaken environmental review prior to development Anything which jeopardizes our environment is going to weaken us economically, culturally, scientifically and socially.
The idea that making development more "expeditious" is a short sighted one. Development has to happen in a way that allows for the proper and complete scientific review so that decisions are made with the best long term interests of Ontarions in mind.
As a proud citizen of this province, I urge you, in the strongest terms, not to go through with this legislation.
