I am concerned about how the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act will impact the preservation of endangered and threatened species in the future. These changes are influenced by economic factors and the provincial government is willing to further compromise species that already face the threat of extinction to support development. I believe there should be other avenues assessed before damaging existing policy that is supposed to protect species due to human driven extinction. Habitat fragmentation due to development is one of the leading causes for species at risk. Canada has agreed to protect its biodiversity under the Convention of Biological Diversity and Ontario should continue doing its part.
