I vehemently oppose replacing the 2007 Endangered Species Act with the Species Conservation Act, which will erode protection for our vulnerable species at risk. The new definition of the word 'habitat' is insufficient to protect species in any meaningful way and the past has shown us that voluntary registration and fee payment by industries and developers is not the way to protect our beautiful province. This land and the species that call it home does not belong to whatever party is currently in power but to all of us to live here.
