I strongly oppose any effort to weaken or roll back Ontario’s Endangered Species Act under the justification that it “takes too long” to assess the environmental impact of development projects.
Protecting endangered species is not a bureaucratic obstacle—it is a legal and moral responsibility. The suggestion that safeguarding biodiversity should be fast-tracked or bypassed to make room for housing or transit is deeply concerning. These ecosystems are already under immense pressure, and further erosion of protections will have irreversible consequences.
We can and must build housing and infrastructure while upholding environmental safeguards. The long-term health of our province depends on it. Streamlining development at the cost of extinction is not progress—it’s reckless.
Do the right thing: protect Ontario’s natural heritage for current and future generations.
It is potential actions like these they will ensure my vote goes elsewhere.
