Thank-you for the opportunity to comment on this proposal. Also....thank-you for attempting to improve the province's approach to protecting the species and the habitat they require, in this amazing province. That said, the following are a few comments/questions that I hope will be considered as this proposal is implemented:
1. I support the focus on promoting voluntary initiatives but would like to understand what, if any, conflict resolution process would be in place should proposed initiatives be rejected?
2. Will there be an oversight/compliance process to ensure that registration activities are being adhered to? Without such a process there is a risk that some activities could commence that would have the potential to adversely impact species & habitat before being evaluated and halted/changed if required.
3. What will be the criteria & process for the Province to exercise its discretion to add or remove species from the list of protected species?
4. How will/if the new definition of "habitat" adapt to the impacts of a changing climate?
Again, thank-you for looking to improve our protection of one of the key "riches" of Ontario!
