I opposed the repeal of the Endangered Species Act 2007.
Habitat for species depends upon an interlinked system of various environmental qualities that the species has managed to adapt to for its home, its food and its reproductive stability.
The proposed Species Conservation Act ensures a very uniformed and limited view of habitat that will result in the demise of many species, especially those in any special zones declared by bill 5.
All species are interconnected and stressing or the elimination of one species affects the entire interdependent system in which the species exists.
The existing act (2007) protects systems and was designed by planners who had expertise in systems theory and practice. The proposed act (2025) has been designed by business proponents and is devoid of systems analysis.
The Species Conservation Act 2025 should be withdrawn and more civil servants should be trained and hired to manage, enforce and streamline the administration of the existing Endangered Species Act 2007.
