We have an obligation to protect those who can't protect themselves. That statement is true for all living creatures. We need to look no further than history. For example, China implemented the "Smash Sparrows Campaign" in 1958 which led to an ecological tragedy which in turn led to the Famine which killed over 45 million people. This is an example of ignorance of the importance of maintaining a healthy ecosystem. We now have a greater understanding of balance in nature and humanity working together. Let us not reverse what we know is necessary to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
